MUNICIPALITY OF AN. SELINO
| Selino the southwest province of Crete has a remote shoreline of superb beaches and is a region of wild beauty. The province possesses a large number of churches with ancient frescos and the interesting archaeological sites like Kantanos, Elyros, Yrtakina, Syia, Lissos and Biennos. The beautiful gorge of Ayia Irini is worth a visit as is a trip to the early Christian basilica of Ayios Panteleimon with its 6th century mosaic floor. Take a kaiki to the nearby archaeological site of Lissos with the ruins of the Asclepion theatre and an early Christian basilica set in superb landscape. The nearby villages of Livada, Koutsoyerako and Moni with their Byzantine churches are also easily accessible. You may also travel by boat to Cavdos "Calypsos Isle" and this route also connects the coast of Selino with Sfakia. |
